Center for Prevention and Health PromotionWelcome to the Canyon Ranch Center for Prevention and Health Promotion (CRCPHP) Website. The mission of the CRCPHP is to partner with communities to improve the health and well-being of people living in the US-Mexico Border states through research, training, advocacy and policy change. The CRCPHP houses diverse projects and activities that use community-based participatory action research to focus on the prevention of chronic disease in the border region. Each project within the CRCPHP relies on extensive community involvement and outreach. The CRCPHP houses the Arizona Prevention Research Center, which is funded by the CDC's Prevention Research Center (PRC) Program. The PRC Program is comprised of 35 academic institutions and is an interdependent network of community, academic, and public health partners that conduct prevention research and promote practices proven to promote good health.

Regional Community Action Board (CAB) Meeting
The next Regional Community Action Board (CAB) meeting will be on Friday, January 29, 2010, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm at The University of Arizona (specific location TBD).  Please make plans to attend and we look forward to seeing you there!

 

Unique telenovelas get Latinos in tune with health care

Colorado officials have created a telenovela-a Latin American soap opera-to spread vital health messages to Latinos, the Associated Press reports. The telenovelas follow the lives of four health information workers, focusing on issues like diabetes, obesity and health insurance. About 17,500 households tune to the program each month.
